Storybook Things & Soft Dreams: Romantic Oil Paintings by Ann Moeller Steverson on display in the second Floor Gallery Space at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment

You are invited to a reception, Friday August 10th, 6-8pm featuring the latest works by oil painter Ann Moeller Steverson. Come up to the 2nd floor of Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment and enjoy refreshments and meet the artist.

I love to paint beautiful people, places and things. Many of my recent works are still life, but not all. These iconic objects or subjects have subtle connections with stories or memories I enjoyed from my adolescence. The new pieces featuring the still life object placed below or near them echo the memories of both the item’s
real past and shared cultural associations. This is an on ongoing theme I am continuing to explore.

The work be on display through the end of August.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I have a new round of classes starting up this weekend and starting again in June. 

I will be offering a couple of choices of images to paint from. I will create paintings from these photos during class and can walk you through each step.

Students are also welcome to bring their own image or object to paint from if they prefer.

My June classes are great for students on summer break, adults, or for parents and to enjoy with their children. In addition to my oil painting classes, I will be offering both a drawing and acrylic painting class at the Huntsville Art League.

Panoply Thank You

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me at Panoply this past weekend! The turnout and positive feedback about my work was amazing.

My latest painting "Florence" is currently on display at the Huntsville Art League.
The title "Florence" has a double meaning. The shoe is an antique Italian shoe, but was also worn by my grandmother, Florence on the day she got married.
I had great fun exploring color in this painting.

PORTRAITS IN OIL
Through demonstration and individual attention, students will learn the methods used by the instructor to capture the essence of the individual on canvas. Bring your own photographs to work from and gain valuable tips as you practice getting a likeness of your chosen subject. Strong drawing foundation/under painting will be emphasized. Get help with mixing skin tones and working with color temperature. Large well-placed color shapes and value relationships will be used to bring your portrait to life. In addition to your photograph, bring a 16X20 canvas, assortment of oil safe brushes, jar for mineral spirits, and a roll of paper towels, or soft disposable cloth.

Cloud to Cloud

I took photographs of a beautiful lightning storm and caught some great cloud to cloud lightning at sunset. I used my favorite one to create this painting. I love when the sky is so strange and purple.

Back Blogging Post New Baby

My apologies for neglecting this blog. I have been taking a semi maternity leave. Since the baby is already six months old, it is really time to catch up with sharing my latest works.

In my first commission since the baby, I did this portrait of a wonderfully sweet couple. They adore each other and think it shows through in the painting!

Sam and Greg's

Exciting news. The Gallery at Sam and Greg's will have my work on display from March 28th through May 9th. Finally finished!

I finally finished what may be my favorite painting. I still need to get a professional picture of "Masquerade," but here is my home shot image.

Yay! Alas, it won't be dry in time to hang in Sam and Greg's Monday.

Sparkling Ornament

Here is another newly finished 8"x10" paintings. I am considering getting a stash of small 8 x 10 paintings completed and offering one a week for sale on Ebay. If I make the leap into this new arena, I'll post the news here!

I just finished a sample painting this week. I only have a rough camera phone image (so please excuse the image/color quality). Participants will each be able to choose from a selection of antique style keys and their own backdrop color to create their unique still life painting.
